Dear Academic and Administrative Leadership,
We wanted to send a quick reminder about the implementation date for the chat auto-retention project. Please share with your unit.
On June 30, the auto-retention process will be implemented for all students, faculty, and staff. Any chats affected by this project that are 180 days or older (sent before January 1, 2021) will be automatically deleted and cannot be recovered. Going forward, all affected chats will be automatically deleted after they are 180 days old.
For most faculty and staff, there is no required action. If an employee has something within their chat messages affected by auto-retention that they would like to retain or is subject to retention under the University’s Records Retention Schedule, see the FAQ for recommendations on retaining the records. After auto-retention is implemented, deleted chats cannot be recovered.
